FAQ

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, often associated with relaxation, in which a subject is more open to suggestion than in their normal state.

How will I feel in hypnosis?

Generally, people in hypnosis report that they feel calm and relaxed and open to the suggestions of the hypnotist. Much like when watching a movie, the subject becomes so pleasantly focused on the screen that they hardly notice what's going on around them.

Will I be made to do ridiculous things like quack like a duck?

Stage hypnotists are putting on an entertainment, so silly behavior is expected. In their practice, Catherine and Richard only use hypnosis to help you achieve your goals.

Do I lose control in hypnosis?

No. Although relaxed and focused, you still remain in control of your thoughts and actions. If your hypnotist suggests anything against your values, you will reject that suggestion.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

To a degree, almost everyone is suggestible enough to be hypnotized. Some people are more talented than others in the use of hypnosis because they have experienced it more often.

What happens if I can't wake up from hypnosis?

Hypnosis is not sleep, but it can lead to sleep. If you do fall asleep, either you will awaken yourself when you're ready or the hypnotist will wake you up. Hypnosis is not dangerous.

Can hypnosis be used for reducing pain?

Hypnosis is a recognized Complementary Medicine option. It has been used to help surgical patients better tolerate their procedures and recover more quickly. Catherine and Richard require that clients have their doctor's approval before working on any medical issues.
